Claremont Umpires

Welcome to the Claremont District Junior Football Umpires Association (CDJFUA) website — your home for everything junior AFL umpiring in the Metro Northern Conference. We proudly support and develop umpires across Years 4 through to Year 11/12, providing opportunities for young people to get involved in football in a positive, rewarding and fun way. Our association covers a wide geographical area, officiating matches from North Beach through to Dalkeith, and plays a vital role in ensuring junior football is run safely, fairly, and with respect. At CDJFUA, we cater for all three umpiring disciplines — Field, Boundary, and Goal umpiring. Whether you’re brand new to umpiring, looking to try a different discipline, or aiming to progress through the umpiring pathway, we offer training, mentoring, and ongoing support to help you build confidence, fitness, and leadership skills. No experience is required — just a willingness to learn and be part of a team. Umpiring is a fantastic way to stay active, earn money, develop decision-making skills, and be involved in the game you love. Many of our umpires start young and continue through to senior levels, while others enjoy the social side and flexibility that junior umpiring provides. To stay up to date with announcements, game day highlights, and association news, make sure you follow us on Instagram and Facebook at @ClaremontUmpires. The Three Disciplines

Field Umpires

The primary role of an AFL field umpire is to control general play, enforce the laws of the game, and ensure matches are played safely and fairly.

Boundary Umpires

A boundary umpire in the AFL is the sole judge of when the football goes out of bounds and is responsible for throwing it back into play.

Goal Umpires

The primary role of a goal umpire in the AFL is to act as the sole official judge and recorder of the score during a match.
